This ministry will be simply called the Christian Recovery Group and will provide a safe and confidential space for folks with addiction struggles seeking support and the opportunity to change their lives through having a vibrant relationship with Christ and the life changing perspective addressing their struggles that His Word can provide.

Our next class session will be Saturday, January 11th, 2025, at 9am at Crossroads Church of Shamong (445 Oakshade Rd, Shamong). Cost for Saturday is $5 to help cover the lunch and supplies. The school will then continue the Second Saturday of each month through 2025 (not July and August).

The main focus for January’s session is “God the Father and His love for His Children.” This will include addressing the “Orphan Spirit” in so many of us and training in HOW to study the Bible. As a way to prepare your heart for this, we recommend that you start reflecting on the book of Genesis, beginning this week. Five chapters a week will get you through the whole book by Jan 11 (think 1 chapter a day for 5 days a week).

In addition to our gathering times, we plan to add small cohorts for Jan 2025. One of our key goals in the DSSJ is to provide opportunities for community to travel and practice together. We are praying and prepping for ways to make these groups most effective for your regular life rhythms.

Some last recommendations as you prepare for this exciting launch:

– Additional optional reading – John Mark Comer’s book “Practicing the Way“

– Reading through the book of Genesis before January 11th launch

– Challenge from last class to write out the book of I John, a little each day, focusing on each verse.
